Step into performance with focused scene work. In Scene Study Intensive, you’ll bring together the tools you’ve built in Core and Character, applying them in a collaborative environment that mirrors the rhythms of a theatrical rehearsal. You’ll work closely with scene partners to investigate relationships, refine objectives, and explore bold actions that bring dramatic conflict to life.

Scenes from contemporary English-language theater provide the canvas for exploring tone, style, and subtext. You’ll deepen your understanding of beats, pacing, and narrative rhythm, while learning how to make specific, imaginative choices that keep your work truthful and alive. This is also a chance to expand your vocal and physical range, integrating technical precision with emotional availability.

The course culminates in a public presentation, offering a chance to share your work with an audience. Along the way, you’ll rehearse in a supportive but rigorous atmosphere, responding to directorial guidance and developing the stamina, presence, and adaptability needed for performance.

Scene Study Intensive is designed as a bridge between classroom exploration and performance training, making it an ideal next step after Creating Character. Actors with previous training may also enter by interview.

The Acting Muscle course I took throughout the fall and winter of last year gave me the confidence and skills needed to apply and ultimately attend an amazing acting university in Los Angeles.
— Rio Rasch, Actor

To enable all participants to work intensively during each class, enrollment is limited to a maximum of ten students. Students should expect to work at least two hours per week outside of class on readings and assigned scenes.
