The fundamentals taught you to feel the camera — to find your focal points, hold your marks, and let the lens catch what stillness can carry. Advanced Acting for the Camera takes that further: into extended monologues and full scenes, where subtlety has more room to work, and more places to hide.

You'll deepen your instinct for when stillness speaks louder than movement, and build an inner life with the emotional and psychological texture that holds up under a close-up's scrutiny. You'll start thinking like a collaborator rather than just a subject of the frame — working with an awareness of lighting, and offering your director and editor a range of takes that open up new storytelling possibilities rather than closing them down.

Alongside the acting work, you'll build the professional instincts every working actor needs on set: how to show up prepared, stay loose and focused through the long stretches between takes, hold a rich inner life through every one of them, and adjust quickly and specifically to a director's note. Finally, you'll learn the basics of editing your own footage — because understanding how an editor builds a scene from your takes is one of the fastest ways to sharpen what you bring to the camera in the first place.

This course includes the collaboration of Marcus Stotz, a Berlin-based cinematographer (DOP) with extensive credits across film, television, and streaming — including Alarm für Cobra 11, Blutiger Anfänger, and a range of international productions. Marcus joins as a technical and creative collaborator, bringing a working camera professional's perspective into the room: how a DP reads a performance, how the lens captures an actor's choices, and the practical vocabulary of working with a director and technical team on set.

Every participant leaves the course with their own video files: scenes shot in standard coverage, over-the-shoulder, and close-up. These files are not a finished reel scene — assembling a polished reel requires additional editing work beyond what the workshop provides. What you leave with is something more immediately valuable: honest footage of your performance under real camera conditions, at multiple distances, in a professional working environment. Yours to keep and use however is useful to you.

This course builds directly on Acting for the Camera and is designed for actors ready to deepen their technical and creative command of the screen. Others may enter by interview.
